Hi guys,

I joined this forum with the hopes of picking brains and people being able to help here with what I need to know and possibly on how to do certain things etc.

As the title says, I am attempting an S3 layout conversion into a Mk1 Golf. Only just started stripping the S3 and will slowly transfer things over as I need to.

Just curious on where I could get some good performance parts for the engine itself. My aim is around the 350-400bhp mark in the car. Its going to be a rebuilt engine, stroked to 2.0, head flowed and bigger vales etc. Bigger turbo as well but that will come around last...

Just need help with where I can get all the internal parts for the engine.

Thanks heaps in advance

Well, we'll see what happens. I have a guy on a local forum who wants to sell a Garrett turbo with manifold, bigger exhaust valves, and 750cc injectors, I reckon thats going to be a start to the 400bhp...

You won't need bigger valves... large port head with supertech valvetrain if going for a garrett turbo, GT3071 will get you to 400 hp with the right mods but there are loads of turbo choices out there currently depending on where you want the power band to be...

Tubular top mount manifold like the TSR one would be the preference as the log type mani's are a bit of a restriction top end even on GT30's etc

This is the list of things I can get...

GT28R GARRETT TURBO
T25 Top Mount Manifold
Dynamics 725cc Injectors
Ferrea Exhaust valves

You won't get 400hp with that turbo.. guessing the manifold while top mount is a cast one?... its an ok mani if its the one I am thinking of but still internal gate so compromises power...

725cc injectors is a bit over kill for this power level...

If doing the head then look to get the valve guides checked as excessive wear (exhaust in particular) is a reason why the valves fail... I have no experience of ferrera valves so can't comment but just make sure they are suitable for turbo applications... most valve manufacturers do stainless steel and a special steel like inconel thats more up to the higher exhaust temps you get from turbo applications

Some info on everything, this is all I have...

1.Brand new Garrett GT 28 Rs Turbo w/0.64 A/R with Oil and Coolant line kit.

3. 8 x Ferrea exhaust valves. (1.8 20v Turbo Engine).

4. 4 x Injector Dynamics 725cc Injectors.

5. DM Forged LLC T25 Top Mount Manifold.

Turbo looks like its got a billet wheel... interesting... that mani is the same one that AKS and Backdraft sell... the 'forged' bit means nowt in the grand scheme of things...

What ECU you going to use?

<tuffty/>

I assume Qpeng just defeat the immo and code out the fault codes, and remap the ecu they supply you?

Why not consider getting a tuner to live map the ecu for a possibly better result, I can defeat immo on those ecus and so can most tuners.

I will get a live tuner but they supply a basic mapping setup. I will then have it tuned to get te best result I can get out of it.

I am just trying to get my head around wha turbo to use coz there are so many options...

I am new to the turbo world so I have to do extensive research in understanding how they work exactly and which type of turbo goes well with what etc.

So please bare with me.

Only got to do a little bit of work today for the first time in weeks...

to 350hp....400hp just fit hybrid turbo from BBT, and Badger5 manifold

if you go to garret choose one with the new technology, not the old ones
