hi peeps,
i was logging the car the other day and noticed there was a big differance between the air temp reading and the intake temp.
i thought the intake temp would be much closer to or lower than the outside air temp.

what the norm if there is one.

thanks
Mark

Intakes temps will always have the potential to be higher than ambient as it gets heated by the turbo (compression of air generates heat) and general under bonnet temps... this is why turbo engines have intercoolers to manage heat... a decent intercooler will normally cool charge air to 10/15 degrees above ambient... the std side mounts are prone to heat soak and will end up getting hotter and hotter

Only time I have seen IAT's the same or lower than ambient is with WMI
