audi a3 2L sport TDI trouble with fuel gauge

hi all

ive bought a audi 2l tdi 2003 and the fuel guage said it had quarter of a tank, i went to fill up before driving home and managed to get £6.86 in diesel then it was full!! i think there is a problem because it shows on the fuel guage as having just under half a tank of diesel but clearly is a full tank

i read the reciepts and stuff in the folder when i bought it and discovered a reciept for a sender sensor

could it need another 1 or maybe a different fix?

First off if your 2 lt you should be on the 8p A3 section

Anyway lift up rear seat and pull out the large black plastic plug in the floor
Check that the mark on the fuel sender unit lines up with th mark on the tank
If they dont the sender gets jammed on the side of the tank

Might de different on the 8p but mine was out of line and read wrong when i fist got my 8L

Worth checking as its free

Where abouts are you? Somebody local should be able to check with VCDS if the needle is working correctly or if the sender is reading correctly.
