How have I only just noticed these buttons and what are the supposed to do!? (Recaro)

So I was washing my car today (yes, it does sometimes happen) and came across these buttons:


Firstly I can't believe I've never noticed these before. Secondly, what the hell are they supposed to do!?

I've tried them and they don't actually do anything... Guessing they were for electric lumbar support? Wouldn't mind having a go at fixing that if they were!

Electric lumbar mate not wired up though.

Seats were from a top spec tdi Quattro. The car originally came with cloth seats.

They just need a 12v feed to work. I never bothered.

Or they rip out the old people 2 ton armchairs and fit fixed bucket seats like me !!
