Angry Newbie with amber oil light sensor

Hi I have just bought my second mk1 audi a3! (1st one lets not go there) Test drove it, it was fine!
Got it home and the amber oil sensor light has come on also my car quickly reaches 90* is this normal?
The service light was on when I test drove it

It could just be the oil level light. Is there a picture of an oil can in amber colour (with the word MIN) underneath it? Anyway, it's worth checking the oil level and topping up if it's low. That's the first thing I'd check. Apart from this, hope you're enjoying your new car.

Hi so I've checked my oil it's fine :-( it's an oil can saying sensor and it's amber? I did ret it with holding the rev counter button turning it on and it's gone off but I haven't driven it.

Ah ok. This is a warning telling you that your oil pressure sensor has a fault. The best thing to do would be to get the car scanned using some software called VCDS to scan your car for any fault codes. Also, you should look into replacing your oil pressure sensor.

Its most likely to be the oil level sensor under that car, it plugs into the sump.

They are about £40-50 from Euro Car Parts, but can be had cheaper, I did mine recently and went OE.

    No worries

Oh and its worth getting it changed sooner rather than later as thats what tells you if you are running low on oil.

Obviously check the oil level on a daily basis if you cant get round to replacing it straightaway.

    Hmmm thats strange!!

Do you know what oil was put in??

Let us know how you get on, oh and as for the temp reaching 90, thats pretty normal, they do warm up fairly quickly, you should be more concerned if it doesnt stay at 90, otherwise its all good

Get yourself to Euro Car Parts, they do one in there, i think its about £40 and its a Hella one as well, its just unbranded, so they can sell it cheaper.

Just give them your reg number and they will be able to get the exact one for you. They do a cheaper one and its upto you if you want to go for this, but with the oil, I wouldnt take the risk.

It maybe worth creating a new thread for the other car and abs issues, are you able to get an error or code or anything like that, as that will help alot.

Any symptoms on the car or issues you experiencing??
