My now wife had a noggy blue S3 8L for 2 years circa 2006/7... Got it with 22k miles on it, traded it in with 90k miles for a brand new VW EOS tdi which lasted 4 months until the roof died !! dealer ended up getting it back then that followed with a misano RS4 which we still have ...

cue back a few weeks before Xmas, ( I heard from the dealer we traded the S3 into that the noggy S3 ended up in Irvine) we went into Ayr to do a big of Xmas shopping, when my wife blurted out there's a noggy blue S3 in that driveway as wd passed it !!.... after our visit to the superstore we stopped opposite it and looked at it .... H .... That's your old car !!!!

I nipped over and rang the bell but no one answered so k wrote a wee note on another forums post it card :) then waited ....

2 weeks later I recieved a call from the husband so I explained we owned it back in 2007... he has had it since we traded it in !! a quick visit round his place to see it again was on the cards ... until he had a visit from the dreaded turbo fairy :(!!!

After a week or so of not hearing from him I called him and asked what's happened to the turbo ? HTF do you know about that ? ...:) I said I'm still interested in the car but obviously your asking price is going to have to reflect the blown turbo... a figure was agreed and its now back with us :)

Its currently in drydock having the flowing work carried out:

Timing belt job
cam cover gasket change
Spark plugs
all filters and fluids done including the haldex diff filter & oil
Turbo out and sent away to be refurbed
replacement armrest bracket was broken underneath the trim!!
Replacement turbo oil feed pipe fitted
Turbo induction hose replaced since it had a huge split in it bound with masking tape !!
got a replacement set of dash clocks since this one is badly pixilated

Hope to get the car back in a few weeks and ready to join its other Audi family members

Might as well get a hybrid turbo and a B5 80mm tip in there while you're at it. Oh, and rods while you're doing the cambelt? ;)

Hi Sam :)

No need to do anything power hike wise... My RS4 has 462.5bhp so that gives me my fix :) :) oh and yes misano red is the fastest colour... IF its an RS otherwise imola with a stage 1 Unicirn remap ( my wife's has 255 ish bhp and the noggy is a standard 210 bhp :)

But can i ask whos fixing your car ? Have they worked on any of your cars before ?

Sure... I go to Jason @ Deutche Tech in Green St Lane (01292 291212) ( next door to Bennets body shop) sometimes his nephew answers the phone so please don't be put off by a youngster answering! Jase is a trained Audi master techy so he knows his stuff !!!

Been using him for a number of years now, very reasonably priced and only uses genuine Audi parts although to be honest more often than not I get my parts from Ayr Audi that way I have the receipts for parts and keeps me in with Audi events organised by the dealers...:)

What niggles have you got with yours then?

( I also go to Unit20 in Chester with the RS4 if a job comes up Jase doesn't fancy doing such as when the clutch was slipping and the flywheel was goosed, Unit20 ( google Grizz) specialises in these so its a days work for him and his wingman, where's Jase would struggle doing that kind of job on his own )

Wallm0nkey.... Nightmare !!! Aggghhhh !!! lol so close eh! Would you of bought it back again ?

I've owned my UrS4 3 times now :)!!

We only got the noggy 1 back as a knee jerk reaction! We didn't have the idea of buying another car in mind what so ever !! JUST happened to go shipping at Morrison's ( we don't even like Morrison's !!) but my mrs got it into her head to go there for 9 weeks shopping to get their Xmas discount voucher offer !!

Women eh !!!! It was a great car when we had it in the past but unfortunately my idea of a good service history and the previous owners isn't on the same planet AND with grand kids in it as well its has a bit of a battering inside !!

BUT I have it now so its in with Jason getting a major overhaul in the service & maintainance dept :)

Yea they seem to be a good lot
Met reg a few times now

Chaz.... I have got my mitts on a good dash clock set / module because the 1 in the noggy is badly pixilated... apparently the car stores mileage history in the ecu... CAN I simply swap dash modules over and the replacement one show the cars mileage and not the previous cars mileage ? or will I have to remove the DIS board and swap them over ?

Cheers

Rich

Tbh I'm not 100% sure on that one I'm sure I read somewhere that you have to change the dis boards over
But don't quote me on that

This would be the procedure to follow.

I got my pixels repaired by a company and they just replaced the LCD screen and nothing else - took them around an hour in total to solder the new one in.

Great stable of cars btw OP and loving the colour combo's going on....real S/RS colours IMO :icon_thumright:

ps you can add other icons/smilies by clicking the :) face above where you are typing - this will bring up the options on what sybmols you can select and the code to put in as a short cut. e.g : racer : (no spaces = :racer:)

Hello again fella .... what yellow smiley face !!! lol

Once I've got the replacement dash module I'll see about swapping the DIS board / display

The RS's one is starting to copy the noggy 1 but its not as bad yet..

Hiya Rich,

Hope you managed to get that ABS issue all sorted in the end fella.

Well it's the smiley face symbol that is on the top tool bar and on the right of the 'A', when clicking it another window should open where you can select what icon to put :D I've madly taken a screen shot to show you what you should be seeing and what smiley symbol to click.

If you still have issues then it might be worth refreshing your browser session completely.

Ah yes !! That ****** ABS problem... eventually found out it was the longitudinal acceleration sensor that was the culprit! Its about an inch cubed black box with a few connectors sticking out of it ! changed that and alls been fine since !

Now the sunroof is out of sync.... when its closed and want to tilt it up nothing happens, IF I want to open the roof first I need to pull the switch down, it retracts to the first increment position ( about 6 inches open) then stops, to further retract the roof I turn the rotor switch as per usual then it opens at each increment until fully retracted into the roof, to close I turn the rotor switch to the closed position, it then comes to 6 inches from bring closed then stops , at this point I need to pull the switch down THEN it fully closes !!

I have a replacement switch and interior lights assembly but not got round to swapping them yet.
I have tried closing the roof with the central locking and holding the lock door button on the keyfob down but this doesn't do anything ! :(
Further investigation will need doing in the spring .

I probably would of brought it back as it was the first car I ever had but it appeared to have been looked after so was just nice seeing it still on the road! Did the urs4 just keep finding it's way back?

... well ... yes and I knew who had it ! lol

It was the 1st Audi I bought so has sentimental value ! Couldn't help myself when the opportunity arose to have if again then the last time it was a grab to save it from a fate at the scrappy because a lying devious wee **** told me the gearbox was fck'd and the car shouldn't be used until either replaced or fixed.. He bought it off me there and then ( in Stoke on Trent) on a Saturday morning isn't exactly handy either .... he used the car until his police pal then had if who between them racked up another ~13k miles without even touching the 'box until its Mot expired in Oct... 2010 then no one bought it off eBay and was facing the gas torch because the engine is a wanted lump for other Audi conversions that people want a turbo 5 pot !! A now ex friend was frufnds with said copper who bought it again on my behalf and the car was trailered from Nottingham to Chester where it was laid up in said ex friends garden from March - Oct 2011 when I had my stag do down there and Unit20 collected it and gave it a big service ... nothing wrong with the gearbox itself, it just needed the multifunction switch on the side which speaks yo the gearboxes ecu which in turn talks to the engines ecu...

last year it had a gearbox change with its t/c for 1 that has 125k miles LESS than the rest of the car !!!

So Suzi is still plodding away on the Queens highway for a while yet :)

just sold my clio sport on sunday to a previous owner from 3 years ago, must be weird getting a previous owned car from x amount of years ago. also if you ever bring that rs4 to leeds can you take me out in it :eyebrows:

Sure, they're a a few I meet up with down there so we could arrange a mini meet for you :)

Yea ... Its funny getting an ex car back... More so 3 times !! lol
