Masking Headlights

Ok call me tight but i don't feel like spending £8.00 for 2 blobs of sticky plastic to block the beam pattern when driving in europe, am i ok to use electrical (facelift plastic headlights) tape to make up the required pattern?

You are very very tight. Be safe and pay the 8 quid. If you do it wrong you could get pulled and end up with a fine. And tape is bound not to stay on. Im shocked you have issues with spending 8 quid on this.

not sure were you are driving in europe but some countries require you to carry high vis, bulbs etc

I thought you just used the levers inside the headlights, I thought with these you didn't need to fit those sticker things?

Be warned... i used electrical tape on my lights for a track day ( even though they are plastic lensed they made me) and the glue used on the tape has eaten into the lense, i had to wet sand and buff a fair few times to get rid of it.
