Hi all since ive had my 1.8T Quattro its taken a while to warm up and sometimes it will even cool itself down when crusing on the motorway etc,

So I got a new thermostat changed by a friend and he said there was some evidence of it letting coolant though when cold but now its done, it still took approx 15 miles crusing around 30mph-40mph to get to the correct temp, is this normal?

I don't think it is personally.. So whats next on the list of things to check ?

Thanks all.

That is quite a long time mate, mine is normally warmed upto 90 degrees in about 3-4 miles.

Same as Nilz here mate....takes around 4 miles for it to show 90 degrees which is incidental the distance it takes me to get to work :(

Not 100% sure on what you should need to check....a fault code run on VCDS would be the first point of call though to steer you in the right direction

Is the heater blowing hot? If it is change the CTS.

Was it a genuine stat?Others are unreliable

Coolant temperature sensor. Genuine sensors are unreliable enough and aftermarket can be even worse.

Did the cts on our old A4 and that was warm within 2-3 miles
