running 'lumpy'

Hi all. My audi went in for.its m.o.t a few weeks ago and the mechanic told me the car was running lumpy. Can anyone suggest what to do.to get it running sweeter. Was planning a service over xmas, anything else i should do?

I have an 2002 a3 1.9tdi with 127k on clock.

Start with a full service. Oil filter fuel filter air filter fresh oil and then see how it runs

As Pubemammal said, a good service first.
Might be worth throwing some injectior cleaner in aswell.
Also check for signs of leaks on the pipework around turbo and other boost pipes.
Maybe get it scanned using VCDS for faults.
All these above are the easiest and cheapest way.
After that your looking at glow plugs, etc.

Thanks for the replys, ive got all the servicing stuff already just havent had time to do it. Is there any injector cleaners you would recommend? I usually use redex on my cars before but heard mixed reviews about it.
