Turbo issue on 2001 s3

Hi all, got engine light on on my s3, had it scanned and got 3 codes. My main concern is P1297 - fault location - turbocharger/throttle valve, hose connection pressure loss. Probable cause - hose connection. I know that seems pretty self explanitory but I'm no mechanic and would like to check it myself?
Anyone else had this code before?
Also sometimes after I've started it the turbo doesn't work but if you turn off ignition and re start it it works ok. i always assumed it was a split hose or similar as once you hit 4500rpm the turbo kind of drops off like the pressure has gone.

Also got code P0420 which is related to the cat....

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi thanks for reply. Will definitely check the links out. The car has had a remap and has a forge dump valve and coil packs. It has no real history and I've not had it long but this is what I've been told by previous owner.

smoke test to confirm leaks present or not..
17705 is common post remap and cold temp software issue (map) IF no leaks present.

limp mode = actuator pressure... so 5psi ish
