Just had the s3 on a local guys vagcom,

I'm guessing the two boost related ones are due to the dump valve the previous owner has fitted, which will be getting swapped out for a full recirc one rather than to atmosphere,

the coolant temp gauge stopped working for about 5mins but is now fine, but will get a new one on order incase,

    any ideas on the rest?

haven't got round to checking my cluster for the esc bulb being blown/missing, but would the abs faults throw that light up?
hence giving them a reason to remove it?

    cheers

17608 can be related to having an N249 bypass... this fault code is because the ECU tried to dump boost using the N249 and didn't see the expected drop in boost... it assumes a mecanical malfunction of the system

17704 is normally related to the coolant temp sensor (CTS) which is a common failure point...

17705 is a tricky one... could be genuinely a leaky valve (as you infer you have an atmos type valve this could be it) but its also a know bug in the ECU software and typically appears when the colder weather is here (5deg or less ambient temps)... this fault normally occurs on cold start and results in limp mode until the ignition is cycled... this is normally removed in most re-maps...

Thank you made it alot clearer, would any of these bring the light up?

i think mine may of had the bypass done as I seem to remember finding some bits in the boot that look like what you remove,
That clears up 17608 and 17704,

I'll investigate the dump valve situation, and the 17705 as it was cold last night 3-4 degrees, but have also noticed if I hold part throttle when coming off a round about some times it sounds like the d/v is sticking I'll investigate.

Had a gander and investigated a little, the parts I found were the old d/v

    bit currently has this fitted..

I'm guessing the bypass also hasn't been done..

going to order a new d/v tonight and maybe some hose to do the bypass.

    oh dear god!!!....

Some people shouldn't be allowed near cars ... get a new top hose too dude as you won't want to plumb it in the way they have... put it back to stock location, get the right hoses and hopefully all will be good...

I despair sometimes I really do...

I've got myself a top hose kit and forge 007p on order,

Hopefully that issue will be cleared up,
