Lowering An A3-Not easy as thought :(

I bought some H&R lowering springs and with a mate attempted to hit them today, what a nightmare!
Has anyone here lowered their car themselves and have any pointers? Do you really need to take the whole hub off? Spent 4 hours in the cold and the car is no where nearer to be sitting any lower

No you dont have to remove the hub. Just unbolt the lower shock mount and use constant pressure on it whilst tapping it down with a rubber mallet. Thats how i did it. Clean the ends before refitting and copper grease them and it should just slide back togethor easily.

Hope this helps!

Have a read of this webpage.

http://www.nclh.org/car/coilover_howto/

Sounds like you need the tool for spreading the lower strut mounting.

You can use the special tool or anything else that'll fit. Shock comes out super easy then.

You also might need to conmprees the springs on the car before removing.

I deffo didn't have to remove my hubs.

Going to try again next week, we did try and persuade the lower shock to come loose, but no such luck.

Good website, now where do I buy that spreader tool ?

Thanks for the pointers
