Hello to everybody.
Like most of you i will introduce my car to. I got that car from 2 years ago already and its my second S3 (one is fo sure to - it wont be last one). I am big vag fan, because all my cars are from vag group (i also have corrado and passat). Corrado is still work in progres, passat i use when i travel with whole family (i got 3 kids, one dog and angry wife ) otherwise my wife use passat to drive on her work. Audi is car which i use most the time, for work and all other ways i need to do. I just love that car, for money i gave for that car i couldnt get more. Ok enaugh talking lets get to pics.

Firs one pic of my ex S3 on day when he left me ...

After 24 hours i bought other S3. I know that car and owner since he came from audi dealer and i also did some work on it (i am mechanic but i work as car painter last 20 years), so i decide to take it (that was one good decision in my life) and thats how he look infront my home garage...

Lovely! But defo remove the rs3 badge. Just looks tacky.

well the old and original badges ware in bad condition so i bough new by near audi dealer.I can not afford real RS3 but badges i can ;)

Strange to go from facelift to pre facelift, facelift rear lights aswell? Nice example anyways!

yes it really is strange i admit, only my intention was to buy something else, but the seller has already sold that car, so I ended up back on the S3 although a little bit older (1 year), but because in my country is not really a lot S3 8l so i didnt have much choice

nope rear will stay from pre facelift because i like them more

Now this red S3 looks ****** awesome, well done. Where did you get the black headlights from?

I need a new headlight lense for my facelift S3, as the lense is so cloudy but the other side (drivers side) looks new, so im only going to change the one side. Ive found an after market make called 'Depo' and they are under £50 delivered to my door. Beats £700 for a new OEM Xenon unit from audi and nearly £200 for a OEM halogen. Its so frustrating they dont just sell the lenses by themselves.

thx mate i bought that headlight on ebay from germany and its from "Depo"

Lets forget now on badges guys, i will explaine why i decide to do that when the time is right (dont forget this pics are two years old)

... the next step was to change the radio antenna.I bought a second-hand, but original ...

My mates just done the same colour combo of gold and polished lip to some 19" BBS splits on his viper green scirocco tsi. Looks awesome.. Liking the very clean red 8L too. Good work..

to s3Easty:
I am still not satisfied. I was looking shiny golden color as for example chrome just not in silver but gold color shade such as trompeta. There is some of them but all of them gets darker after clearcoat is applied so I'm still searching.

I got rid of the rear wiper and replace it with a glass stopper ...

First I started with FMIC. FMIC offer is really great, prices for the kits is that you fall down. This piece of aluminum can not be worth it, so I decided to create the kit by myself. I have tools and knowledge I saved a little money-I said, and started to collect parts. On ebay i bought IC ...

Car looks ace. Love the colour.
Personally wouldnt have gone with blue hoses, black for stealth or red for colour coding.

All the tubes were still original and very damaged because of time so I decided to buy a new this time silicone tubes from RAMAIR

In between, when I was waiting for stuff from e bay I tried something - ignition coils from the 2.0 TFSI engine. They say that they do not spell it as much as the standard of the old 1.8 engine. Ok I said to myself I'll change. Of course I needed adapters that can fixed ignition coils ...
... so I needed adapters ...
33f5a61742f8e69f58df787720de8d37286c5ffcp.jpg

... and of course the ignition coils ...
150f85d28784db16972ac95059afdfda6990fb60p.jpg

... then I ran into problem. The problem is that through the coils in the third and the fourth cylinder is a holder which is screwed together with the coils. This coils of the 2.0 TFSI engine are slightly higher and reach further out (a few mm) just enough that the holder resting on the coils does not fit the adapters.
1b50bc99fe0ee18f0a95068784c95ee36cf7adcfp.jpg

... clearance from the holder to the adapters is somewhere around 6 mm ...
4eb3a16869e769780bdd26126ad76bef4ad5d47fp.jpg

... thats why it was necessary to make spacers. I was not ready for it so I did made spacers from material that I had on hand. It was good for a temporary solution so i made 5 of them ...

... which is a fit nice in the adapters ...
d23e5195e8aad32c4ade2a0c7bafeb6544d8e9bcp.jpg

... it was solved the current problem ...
6b716b866c214d37316e0fa466e3437a6f42f7a3p.jpg

... the following problem has been the holder of the protective plastic which is now increased by a little less than the length of the spacers. Holder cant get lower because then it was not enough space for all the tubes below (yes i know i could make bypass and relocate valve but i didnt) so I left it as it is and tought to raise other holder of protective plastic ...
653ebf9781bdbd8754da16071caec79c08b04c4cp.jpg

80c2e96f36960fc01224d5f4e58946efa87264dep.jpg

oh yeah baby ... difference is obvious final speed again such as it shold be. No more overheated ignition coils. And where was the problem? Its simple and logical; ignition coils from 2.0 TFSI engine working on spark plugs with a small gap (0,47) 1.8 engine (in my case is engine APY) spark plugs have bigger gap (o,80) thats why ignition coils from TFSI overheated maybe i should replace spark plugs to but i didnt so i dont know. This red ignition coils working on spark plugs gap between 0,80 to 1,60 and they work really well on PFRQ6 spark plugs.

and btw all these replacement ignition coils is completely unnecessary if you have ignition coils hittachi (with white color on top) most tunners will tell you that they are one of the best ignition coils ever made for 1.8 engines ;)

... but replacement ignition coils from 2.0 TFSI engine has proven to be the most bigest mistake. The engine was worked quiet and smooth but only under low speed. I should mention that I lost much of the max speed the car did not go over 210 km/h. At this speed It was felt like somebody pulling me back and also ignition coils was overheated.

...then I tried the second option - ignition coils from audi A8 ...

why would the red coils cause this ?? Awesome thread btw :)

Loving the thread and the amount of detail you go into along with very clear pictures.

Not sure why you had issues with the 2.0 TFSI coil packs

I've got them in my APY engine with OEM plastic spacers with NKG BKR7E coppers and .8mm gap IIRC, at least it's all sorted now

to S3 Paul - dont worry mate i got a lot of pics just dont have much time to stick them
to MIGGZ - :beerchug:

to Goubo1 - red did not cause any problems

to Phil-1 - i will

to kwistof - I'm not sure ether why i had these issues but I wasnt the only one with it. Some others had same problems
