it sure is Daz, it's not a case of whether the downpipe will fit or not, but simply of Dan getting his made and jigged up for subsequent repeat units. i believe he's going with just the one downpipe which will fit FWD and 4wd models to keep production simple.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, it's utterly fantastic!

its on the cards mate as I do have a spare k26 am I right in thinking it was the hotside that was the restriction on it ? I'm sure I read that the mtm manifold flows well so getting the turbo worked and 3inch down pipe could be a pretty cheap way to get more power

Would be the way if be heading even if had the k26 hotside machined for a different garrett turbine

Beware that the garrett/k26 turbine housings don't have the same dimensions as our k26's in relation of mani flange to downpipe flange positioning....which is fine and all good if your going for a custom dp but this is the point I got pissed off and changed direction as was sold to me as a drop in solution

Also it does bring the turbo closer to the bulkhead but will fit and is do able....all the pics on the housings and differences are well documented in my thread

If you decide to go this route my gtx is up for sale with the compact housing

    Tfsi turbo on a s3/TT ?

Cars purpose has changed and when specced and bought the turbo, spec was the 1.8t lump you've now got, underslung turbo on mani you've now got and car was my daily hack

Now am a stroker with valvetrain that can rev, top mounted and car will just be used for show weekends and to be thrashed ;-)

Am shopping about for a used gt35 chra with good turbine and shaft...rest will be replaced by our resident turbo guru (that's the plans anyhows whether works out that way is another matter)

Was previously talking to forced performance about a hta3582 before the gtx got fitted but never proceeded as was worried with the lag/usable powerband on an everyday car

i see, with a gt35 and your other hardware you would be well into 500bhp wouldn't you

Yeah would have thought so but the gtx that's on there had the potential to do that just needed to sort out cams and a few other issues

Mine currently has around 4000 miles on it and it's been 100% problem free, I've not had to touch or tweak a single thing since the day I drove it home.

Dan has also finished the 4wd downpipe now and it fits pefectly and doesn't look as complex as I expected it too!

I'll point Dan in this direction, but I believe it's very nearly ready.

Oh, and as for the turbo mated to a 1.8T - it's still absolutely fecking FANTASTIC!

Edit: I might have said that bit before , but really, it is!

In all honesty, I prefer it for sure, it's more punchy low down, as it doesn't suffer from surge, and it's more powerful at the top end too, as well as being smoother to drive.

That said, my hybrid was a few years old spec wise, and the new generation of BBT hybrids seem to be considerably more advanced with none of the surge issues mine suffered, so who knows. I think the hybrids will always be 20-30bhp behind the tfsi unit in power for a like for like spec.

The TFSI unit also made considerably more torque, but we had to tame it down at the time for driveability, and to try and keep my gearbox intact!

Just cant wait for more info on this. I know the standard k04 will only keep me happy for so long. Do you build up slowly for a hybrid or do a tfsi in one go. ive been in a stage 1 ed30 and thought it was epic at 305 so maybe a hybrid would do. These things boogle my brain!!!

Any 1/4 mile results with K04-064 on 1.8T? Just curious for straight line performance compared to Gt28RS for example...

    it's difficult to say mate.

My honest opinion; if you have a near stock / st1 ko4 setup at the moment, then go TFSI all the way, it's the more sensible route.

If however, you've already got half the st2 bits like many have, FMIC, B5 TIP, manifold etc etc, then a hybrid still makes an awful lot of sense.

Starting from a blank canvas though the tfsi makes so much sense, and of course, there's the potential for 500bhp+ with a hybrid version down the line....

No 1/4 mile data, and I don't imagine you're likely to get any any time soon, as my car isn't setup for the 1/4 mile at all and wouldn't give a decent representation of it's ability. Having been in several GT28RS (assuming you mean 2860) cars though, the 064 car is definitely quicker, and spools much earlier too on the road. Figures are more comparable to a gt2871 kind of region, just with a much lower boost threshold.

the mk5> 4wd platforms actually have a larger tunnel Sam, and can take the downpipe down the other side of the propshaft apparently. We discovered that when initially looking to see if we could run a mk5 3'' DP/ Decat on the A3

Well car car is running, although it's got either an air leak or bad new maf as it's running horribly with maf plugged in but fine with it unplugged...

also I need to buy a downpipe dent.. Although it was fine when I made it up I guess with everything in place it's knocking on the the subframe... Small dent should fix it for now.

    it sounds good though :-)
