Hi
will be buying an s3 8l with in the next month and have seen a few which are already mapped and a few stock.
just wondering if buying a mapped one could give me more problems e.t.c? or if im better off buying a completely standard and doing the mods my self so i know exactly what has been done. please could someone give me some advice on this as i really am not sure what to do

cheers

Joe

If going modified try buy one off places like here then you know the history...
Trouble with buying standard, it will cost a hell of a lot of money even to get to stage 2 from scratch..

thats what i've thinking about, i've seen an s3 with a stage 2 which i am viewing this weekend. so hopefully that is up to scratch. what are the most decent remaps? Revo apr and cc?

It's all opinion really, everyone used the best map company if you ask them.

Personally I'd try to buy an honest and well documented stage 2/modified/tuned car, as you'll save yourself a packet on parts. These are harder to find as there are dogs around, but they're worth looking for IMO.

i suppose so, thanks for the advice though. it certainly would be alot cheaper to buy one with all the mods already done

choose one which is not generic for your 10+year old car by a vag specialist, with dyno ideally
tailored to your car and mods/wear and tear

Hey man, I'm from Cardiff too and recently took my S3 up to Bill at Badger 5 for a remap.

You're welcome to see how it compares to yours when you get it.

I'd never buy a modified car. I'd rather spend a little less on a standard car initially and perhaps a bit more on fitting/labour/new parts than trust someone else's opinion of a good garage/tuner.

But it's all personal opinion :)

Depends

If you've not done the modding route I think starting standard and enjoy the car and gradually do bolt on mods and appreciate it a lot more and understand the car characteristics to different things

Small world! I spend a lot of time there (pubs mainly)... I agree with p1tse btw, more fun to follow the car through all the mods.

indeed it is! I just put a deposit down on a red s3 89k stage 2

really would have have liked to buy one standard and do all the mods myself but I know I would not be able to afford to do that as I am only 18

its a great car though

Out of interest what's your insurance on that at 18? I'm 21 and this year it's about £700.

Have you got a list of the mods? One man's stage 2 is another man's cold air intake and exhaust tip haha!

My insurance is 2100 on it that'. With 1 years driving but o No claims as my first year was under my fathers name

The one downside is I'm not picking it up until the end of November. As that is when I will have the money

Who is that insured with. Great looking car btw. Red looks awesome

That's with admiral multi car with 3 other cars putting my mum and dad on it, that brought it down 2,000. I cant really fault it superkarl

I do love the colour, cant wait to pick it up now

Great news, will have the money for next saturday so will post so more pics once i get it will upload some more now too

So I'm guessing all the upgrade work is fully documented. I thought admiral would run a mile from heavily modified cars !

So did I, my friend is an overrides for admiral though so he helped a 'little' haha
