Airbag Code of Doom 65535

Hi

Car's due for MOT and airbag warning light's on. Checked passenger seat and it's not that. Scan says error code 65535 and independant specialist can't remove it. Been quoted daft money to replace airbag ecu. Seen a gizmo on Ebay from Ultimate Car Parts to re-set it. Has anyone used one or could offer any advice on how to get round things? If I need to get a s/h ecu I've been told the part number is 8LO 959 655C for a 1999 S3 but is this correct? - I've seen conflicting advice.
Could really use some help.

65535 is generally the pin number given when a pin doesnt exist in that module. what did he use to scan it? I guess the error could be a failure to read other modules too, not sure. get vcds on it before condemning parts.

Thanks for this, they used VAS 50 51B. Anyone help with the part number?
