Fitting my Brembos?

Hi chaps!

I finally got myself a pair of LCR Brembos, they're in the classic SEAT peeled-lacquer faded-red colour.

Got the mounting bolts, brackets, pipes, callipers, and some virtually brand new pads and discs - straight off an LCR.

ECP have a deal on at the moment so I'm getting 1L of the ATE Blue brake fluid for £10-delivered. (I already have an eezi-bleed kit)

Now my question - is there anything special that I need to do to stop air going back up the brake lines when I disconnect the old brakes and plumb the new ones in? Or will the eezi bleed kit push out any air that gets in in the line when disconnecting/reattaching?

I'm contemplating getting them repainted before I fit them - I googled and found a company in Nottingham that will sort them for £115 / pair.

Bleeding will removing all the air (if done properly of course)... don't clamp the hoses as they are braided internally and it can damage them... I normally use a bit of polythene on the reservoir held on with the cap to 'seal' the reservoir and slow down the flow of fluid while I swap over the hoses... loss of fluid is inevitable but as you are bleeding fulling with new then largely irrelevant

Who are you using to do the re-paint? £115 a pair seems like good value. I'm in the process of enquiring with Godspeed to powder coat these bad boys I picked up a few weeks back:

They want £85 per caliper to strip and powder coat...
 
Iv got my self this pressure bleeder, Any particular way or sequence to bleed to get a nice solid pedal (standard s3 312mm brakes)

I googled and found ... Brake Caliper Rebuild, Painting, Repair and Refurbishment Specialists
I contacted these guys and have been quoted, £171 inc VAT. (Painting, supply and application of decals, return delivery.)
You do get a couple of years warranty on the paint/finish which is nice.

I also found these guys, costs more but they are defo powder coated.

I've got an email from the guys in Nottingham, I'm tending towards giving them a go: "No we don't powder coat. We use the same paints as the caliper manufacturers do, our paint is designed to get harder as it gets hotter so can easily withstand the temperatures encountered during normal brake use. Powder coating is the reverse and gets softer as it gets hotter."

Will do, I have a feeling that if I get any other colour than Brembo red I'll regret it.

Options: Brembo Red, Black, Yellow, Dolphin Grey (to match the car and wheels).

They're going behind these wheels. Opinions?

I'ld go for the red, you spent the money on getting them, might aswell show them off and make people like me jealous.
 
Personally the one colour I'm not going for is Red. There's no doubt Red looks good but I just fancy something different.

I've short-listed a few colours but that information is on a need-to-know basis at this time :tapedshut:

That is cheap considering you've got new seals as well....how hard was it to change the seals? I've viewed some guides on-line and the only part that looks challenging is getting the pistons out (as I don't have a compressor)...
 
I used a compressor, but a bike pump would do the same if you get a good seal..be careful because they can fly out with a fair bit of force, i used wood blocks to limit the travel..
seals are fiddly but straight forward...
 
Vfr800, if you don't mind me asking.. Where is ATe blue brake fluid on ECP website? I've tried no end of times and can never find it... Going tomorrow for the S2000 filter so may pick up some brake fluid to :)

EDIT: never mind I've found it, when I put my S3 reg in a search for ATE fluid I get no results... When searching with the S2000 car it found it straight away......

I searched for ate blue on the ECP website. Doesn't seem to work now and the price has gone up.

I realy need to paint mine. they work fine so new seals and things would be over kill at the moment.
Im going red just to refresh them... although i did look at blue to match the car too.
Im looking at spray them red. aply the brembo sticker and then 2 pak lacquer over the top
All in will cost me about £30
