Newbie looking to buy an s3

hi just signed up to the forum, and looking to buy an s3 very soon as i've wanted one for a long time. could anyone list a few things to look out for? common problems, expensive maintenance costs etc.. any help would be much appreciated thanks

excellent info. maybe a stupid question but what is the haldex unit all about?

Its a clutch system that engages drive to the rear axle as required.... the S3 is essentially FWD most of the time..

Its the rear axle clutch system that allows the car to be 4wd when it thinks it needs it

*edit* dammit always beaten by the 8L Guru that is tuffty lol

Also in regards to haldex it should have its oil changed every 20k and the filter every 40k
