Any new or perspective s3 owners, what's your other choices?

Just lookin for some inspiration and ideas, wandering what your other cars of choices is/ was

I've been looking at early mk5 gti. Probably a better car but lacked something special and a bit too ordinary
DC5 completely different drive, loved the looks, feel, rev happy engine
However both of these are £6k+

Whilst s3 would look sub £4k which is more in reach in the near future

This statement alone, I would tell you to give the DC5 a miss, it's not excactly a refined machine! Buy something with 5 doors is my advice, so a mk5 GTI fits the bill, preferably with DSG and then get a stage1 remap, job done! 8L S3 is a bit lacking room in the rear, so not ideal, not in the long term anyways.

I had a mkv r32 dsg before

As its a second car to replace a ka, all of those have more space.
We already have a larger main car 5 series touring
