Hey all

Just noticed my a3 uses water need to top it up every 2 weeks as it drops below min
I asked the father in law who I bought it off
And he said it's done that ever since he had it which he owned for 2 years+
He had it in a vag specialist and they could not find anything

I am assuming headgasket? The oil is ok and not getting water in
Is they any common areas to look at so far I have checked oil
All hoses and radiator.

They is no leaks on the drive

Are you using water or do you have proper coolant in there? if using the correct G12 variant then it will be obvious if there is a leaking pipe somewhere... G12 leaves nice pink stains...

Sorry it's a 1.8t 2000model I am not 100% sure if they is coolant in just looks normal dirty water could I not put a dye in the water so I don't waste coolant

Should be using a proper G12 coolant really dude.. you want to go to a local garage for a hydrocarbons test... that should determine if the headgasket has gone... fairly rare tbh as they are quite sturdy but cracked heads are fairly common...
