Can someone explain some codes to me please?

    hey

When I bought my 2002 S3 at the beginning of July it had an engine management light on. Car drove fine and the owner said that the code comes on cos the the car is remapped so it's an over boost. He got it reset and then it came on for a couple of days later. Lately it's been worrying me a little so I thought I'd post the codes here. Can anyone confirm there isn't much to worry about or if there is something I I could do to get rid of them permanently?

I'm guessing the last one is due to over boost?

    Thanks in advance

17963/P1555 - Boost Pressure Control: Upper Limit Exceeded
    Possible Symptoms
    Reduced power output
    Limp mode
    Possible Causes
    Boost Pressure too High
Hoses/Pipes incorrect connected, disconnected, blocked or leaking
    Charger Pressure Control defective
VNT (variable nozzle turbo): nozzles stuck
Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) defective
    Possible Solutions
    Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
Check Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75)
Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control
Check / Clean mechanism for variable nozzles

17544/P1136/004406 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean

    Possible Solutions
Check Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
    Check Fuel Pressure Regulator
    Check Fuel Pump
    Check Intake/Exhaust System for Leaks
Check Secondary Air Injection for Leaks
    Check Vacuum Lines for Leaks
    Special Notes
    Fuel Trim Info
When this fault is stored and external vacuum leaks are not found, less obvious problems may be present:
Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)
    Check Brake Booster and Hoses
Check Electric Vacuum Pump ( If Applicable )
Check Crankcase Ventilation System for faulty components. When the PCV or Crankcase Ventilation System is faulty, vacuum is typically present under the oil cap and misfire faults are common.

To me it sounds like a very poor map on the car, I would get it checked on a rolling road with someone ASAP.

It sounds that bad? Apparently it's been running with these codes for ages. It has an APR remap?

    Will the rolling road do?

Sorry I'm not too good on this stuff

After a good remap, nothing should come up so something is upsetting it. Best bet is to follow the steps above to see if any of then solve the issues, or it's the map itself. On the rolling road, the sensors can can be monitored, so fuel for example can be monitored in the whole rev range, plus the power output of the car.

cool, so get it on a rolling road with some diags running. It's in for it's brakes soon so I'll ask them if they do it there. Otherwise there's a couple of Audi specialists near me. Do you know how much this usually costs? Thanks for the replies btw

I would expect to pay around £100 for dyno and diagnostic session, depends on the company of course.

Check all your vac pipes first. You may have a split in a pipe going to the DV or possibly actuator, would explain both codes. Lean code due to sucking unmetered air and the over boost due to lack of adequate control of wastegate actuator/DV.

Worth having a look yourself first, I know I would before paying someone who will do the same.
