Ive owned my 1999/2000 audi a3 quattro ajq 180 for 18 months now it has been chipped to 217bhp with proof,
since owning it i have replaced injectors and fuel pump fuel pressure regulator air flow meter because of bad hesitation and low fuel pressure. I have also fit a boost gauge and it hits 20psi and drops to 12/14 psi.
The problem i am having is that it has always been low on power the last time it was on the rolling road it only pulled 165bhp, compression test is good on all cylinders no boost leaks no fault codes.
Now when i drive down a long hill just letting the car ride with no throttle i get a big puff of blue smoke when i rev it this is the only time it seems to do it no blue smoke on start up or idle so i dont think valve stem seals could all these problems be down to a faulty turbo
Any help would be greatly appreciated

3rd gear wot does anyone understand what it all means

Next time only full throttle your car when its up to temperature, youre doing it no good.
Unless perhaps you have a faulty stat or temp sensor?
Does it actually get to 90?

When its supposed to get to 90 its actually between about 86-108. Anything lower it will read lower, any higher it will go higher On the gauge

I dont fully understand o2 logs im afraid so cant comment there.

Meeting boost ok tho, its not requesting alot, or boosting alot.

Nether thought about the temperature, i thought the oxygen sensor readings looked a bit strange what do you think about the blue smoke on over run turbo seal failing

On overun, mm its likely turbo yes, or guides, or excessive oil consumption. All very speculative, difficult to diagnose umfortunately until things get worse (fingers crossed they dont).

how does coolant look?
Hows oil consumption?
HG ever been done?
taken the tip off and checked for excessive in/out play in the shaft?

coolant look fine when when cam belt was done don`t no about head gasket but there are no head gasket symptoms,
oil consumption i am testing at the moment going to check the shaft for play today looks like fun.

Had a look at the turbo and there is a good 2mm of side to side movement and alot up and down.
time for a new turbo i think any suggestions it is on the standard ko3-026 turbo.

Latetal play is somewhat ok to an extent. Its in and out that will tell you how worn it is.
My old ko4 had about 1mm in and out at least, but still boosted and performed as it shouldve.
So any more would prob indicate its leaking a bit of oil

I took the charge pipe off the inlet manifold i would have said it was excessively wet.
there was a lot of oil in the inlet pipe as well were the recirculating vale releases pressure.

i have had another look and there is definitely 2mm or more in and out, when i looked close with a torch there looked to be small marks on the end of the turbines.
