gearbox problems need help

hi i have a 03 a3 tdi 6 speed, I cant select any other gear but reverse, it went in first to begin with but when I went to pull off there was no drive there now when gear lever should be in neutral its stuck to the left and wont select any gear now
any help?

Have you checked the linkages are attached to the top of the gearbox?
