My car has recently developed an intermittant abs fault. the light comes on sometimes during a long journey and then generally stays on untill the car is stopped ignition turned of and when restarting say the following morning it is off again.

Does any one have any experience of this and knows of any quick fixes or obvious causes, prior to spending shed loads of money.

no ABS makes late breaking quite exciting in this sort of weather!!

Thanks Jimbo

Its probably just a dirty sensor. Usually a quick clean up sorts it out.

If the light then returns after cleaning, you need to get more involved.

thanks for that

where are the sensors are they easy to access/clean?

The fronts are attached to the wheel hubs and the rears similar at the back.

Obviously the wheels need to come ot to get at them unless you have the type of wheels that have alot of space to put your hand through.

If you can get a cloth in there great, but maybe a compressed air line or jet wash is better.

Better still VAG-COM would tell you if it is a speed sensor and which ones to look at.
