6x9 speakers

hiya all

is it possibke to fit 6x9 speakers in the standard rear speaker fitments on my a3. Just thought one of you guys might know before i pull my car apart finding out

hmm not sure my but i doubt it. Just bought my 1.8t and the back shelf has a plank of wood stuck underneath with space for 6x9s. Probably your best option!

dont get 6x9's!!! worst possible speakers- ask Andy Mac in the ICE section. ur better off with components but if uve already got em fair play.

get some decent components up front and then a nice sub and amp, then bobs your uncle a nice sound system

You can fit pretty much any size speaker behind the rear panels as long as they can support the weight, there's loads of room and loads of depth once you remove the polystyrene bolsters. But yes, 6x9's are not my first choice, but in that location nothing is gonna sound that good apart from a couple of small subs mounted on a reinforced speaker panel.
Actually that's quite a good idea!

thanks for replies guys but i already own the speakers out of my old 16v golf and they are good speakers , ill prob shelf mount them and keep the rear speakers routed in, i like 6x9s for that bit of extra base without comprimising boot space, ive been the no boot route and all sorts over the years and got some ickle trophies for soundsystems over the years. 6x9 arent route of all evil if you buy the right ones lads /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
