Where is the best and most cost effective place to get my 98 A3 1.8t sport remapped in Scotland? Im fed up with boy racers in Peugeots and Citreons having a go and me struggling to keep up! What sort of benefits and power gains should I expect and will this make the car unreliable and temperamental?

Any feedback would be appreciated!
Greg.

Star Performance.

May not be the least expensive, but certainly the best knowledge, equipment and expertise on 1.8Ts

Ifyou want honest reliable service it's got to be bedrock in Motherwell. Also I am sure they are doing Jabba now,

Hmm, never heard of them.

Do they have one of the most accurate 4wheel dynos in Scotland? Do they have the exceptionally expensive Beisparth 4 wheel alignment tools? Have they specialised in VW/ Audi for as long as they've been in business?

So far as I can see there is only one true specialist in Scotland and many other comanies that produce a more generic product for a more generic market - be careful...

I'm not an authourity on them other than experiences I have had dealing with them and recommendations I have heard from others. I know they did a Rolling Road day for I think it was ukmkivs.net or scottish vag in June, I know they are committed VW people and I am sure they have done VW/Audi for as long as they have been in business. They are very knowlegable and committed but have a down to earth attitude which is hard to find. They have been there a long time and have a fair few awards from GTI International etc.
I have only one experience of Star and all I am saying is it will be the last.

Can't understand this at all, although each to their own I guess.

Star Performance for me everytime. Loads of skill and background knowlege and not afraid to have an opinion, which in my case saved me money.

I am happy to travel for what they do.

I, m not getting into slagging people off on here. I didn't like their attitude, advice I got or price they charged and that is all i am saying. Bedrock are rock solid as far as i am concerned I hanen't had a lot of dealings with them, as in they are not my 'pals' or anything but i would certainly trust their advice, knowledge etc etc.
Maybe it's just me.

Put my S3 through it's 80k service at Star Performance a month ago, based on a pre-agreed price.
No complaints at all, in fact I'm sure I saw a plaque in the wating room which stated they were the winners of the 2004 Independant Audi Garage of 2004 though I can't recall the magazine which gave them the award.
I have no knowledge of the other garage, they may be the best in the world but I can only state from my experience with Star Performance that I would happily do the 180 mile round trip again.

Hmmm. Guess at the end of the day, you pay your money and make your choice. Trust and confidence are key elements in my decisions, probably yours too. At the moment, SP consistantly hit the spot on both counts for my car...

It sounds like you may have answered your own question at the end of the day...
