Hi guys,
got a a3 1.8t agu.. Totaly standard... It has 150k on the clock n would like to
remap it or tuned so its running spot on as its poor economy n hesitates slightly.. All serviced though!!
is it worth a remap for better mpg.. Not looking for power... Just a tune up for reliability n check up etc..
im in west london.. Whats the best place to take it too near me?

thanks
Aaron

I would suggest checking for error codes and getting a smoke test first before a remap. Just a thought.

Cool is there anyone near me u guys could recommend thats known for 1.8ts? Done vagcom n no errors really... Well not major ones..

Define 'near' ?

If near means you don't mind travelling a bit of distance to get your car looked at by an expert in 1.8ts then go and see Bill @ Badger 5 in Gloucester.

Oops fault codes cleared now... One was battery power or power low.. Others was diverter valve leak but those wer because of old problems that needed clearing.
badger 5 is 2 hours away lol anyone else closer to london?
just want it properly checked over to see its healthy n maybe a map to sort out fueling etc

I wouldnt bank on getting a remap straight away. any decent tuner wont map it unless the car is safe for it. R tech is closer I think but depends which way your going.

If Badger 5 and R-tech dont feel the car is safe then they wont map it. may be worth getting it checked over before taking it to them?

I'm from CT18 area in Kent, so almost double the distance....it was well worth the travel/fuel after being spun loads of crap from local 'specialist' VAG garages that were unable to spot the split pipes. So now I personally trust 2 garages completely with my car the UK! lol

If you want the best for your 1.8t then you're going to need to do a little travelling mate

Yeah thats the thing... Dnt want to take it to anyone... Just thought maybe someone knows someone local near me.. But looks like bill n r tech are only choice..
thanks guys

You can get a remap from Most garages.. But that's like getting heart surgery from a builder..

There are many names and companies who would offer a remap next to you, but as it have been told earlier its not all the same.
You can look for (revo, amd, apr, giac, awesome gti, custom code, unitronic...) and the list goes on

Pop over to bills, you won't be dissapointed!

If you cba traveling go awesome GTI as mentioned above, only experiance I have with them is buying cheep coilovers a year or 2 ago and they wernt bad lol

think of it this way, if you get your remapped by at Badger5, who you say is a 2 hour drive away. Imagine how much fun you will have driving back home :)

Lolll yhh i defo wd enjoy the ride bk for sure. Okk ill prob get it looked at my awesone gti or someone just for precaution befre i take it for remap from bill or r tech... Will update when i do...
thanks guys

Dont get a map.. Get is thoroughly checked over first if you have this slight miss.. Remap will not fix things.
Choose a competant VAG specialist who has things like smoke test, dyno, and experience of these engines... They should be able to identify the issue for you.

Once its all fine, then remap could be applied.

Well said mate. You could have waded in offering a remap and collect some monies without a care in the world, but as you mentioned the condition/health of the engine is the main issue here and your reputation.

This is why people on ASN refer others to you. Kudos +1

these are old cars now... many have their little gremlins which need attention first

TLC.. and some fixes usually run hand in hand with the old 1.8t's... Then they can produce some nice gains when all healthy again :)
