S3 CV joint being a c**t to get off!!!!

Really starting to annoy me now, took the o/s shaft off to replace the outer cv boot, tried gentley tapping it, and now have resorted to beating the **** out of it with a nylon mallet to try and get the outer cv off... Will the ****er budge!!!!! Is there something im missing??

Im not sure i can hit it any harder! Ive been hitting the outside of it as i cant get to the centre bit unless i use a punch, but dont want to damage it with that.

Unbdolt it, new shaft and two CV's.

It will be cheaper than you think.

Got really ****** with it not coming off, threw the mallet to one side and grabbed the lump hammer, was worried it was going to damage it but that inner ring bit that holds the bearings is hard as nails!! Got it off now, just left it in the degreasing bath for a bit.

Really won't mate, £200 per shaft with new CV's for genuine, pattern ones don't last at all.

as is always the case, the CV joint is case hardened steel, if you damage it with a 4 pound hammer then the joint was no good anyway, you have to beat **** out of them sometimes
