AKL 1.6 power loss, slightly jerky acceleration, won't rev past ~5,600

Hey all,

my '99 A3 has recently (last week or so) started displaying a behaviour wherein it seems to be a bit down on power (not dramatically so, but I notice it), especially in lower revs and sometimes hesitates for a moment when I press the throttle. If I go to run through the gears, power falls off like I hit a wall at around 5,600rpm. It drives ok, but…

Briefly tried disconnecting the MAF (though didn't disconnect battery or anything) which made everything substantially worse.

Coolant temp sensor, thermostat and timing belt were all changed a couple of months ago.

I'll get it checked with a vagcom as soon as is feasible, but does this sound familiar to anyone?

Possible vac leak? A VCDS scan like you said would be best.

being non turbo vac leak wouldnt have that much effect,.When was fuel filter/air filter last changed?
