TPS? ECU?

I know this in the wring section but you guys have such a wealth of knowledge i thought i would try my luck!

I have a 2002 VW Caddy SDI and I'm getting this intermittent problem!
1) Turn the key drive off and around as long as I like and all is fine!
OR
2) Turn the key and no throttle response apart from slightly higher revs and I go no where!

Can anyone help with a diagnosis please?

Get it scanned would be best place to start.

ECU fault, common one i hear
