Hi could any tell me what part number 1 is, it's part of the breather system

Its the oil filter housing, whats wrong with it?

The garage seems to think I should replace it along with pipe work, there looks as though there is no damage to it,was going to do a Pcv delete as this may eliminate smoke coming from exhaust ie blocked breathers
