    S3 hazard light/alarm

The hazard warning lights on my s3 keep going off.i unlocked the car then locked it again and not even 5mins later they were flashing again its like the alarm is going but no sound, anyone any ideas how to stop this as I'm worried it could go unseen and drain my battery

You will need to get it scanned with VCDS.

My ecu harness plug got water in it and shorted some pins out, one was the crash sensor pin and the hazards would keep going off.

i gave it a scan with vcds and it came up drivers door sensor so cleared the code and I gave what I could see a clean with a cloth but it did it again.i took the door card off and had a poke around and touch wood its not happened since

If the alarm siren isn't sounding, then it probably means your siren backup batteries have leaked over the circuit board, and it's triggering the false alarm.

I think the code could well be a red herring I'm afraid.

It's a very common problem on the 8L, and other Audi's of a similar vintage.

All 3 of mine have suffered it, but I managed to repair all 3 too fortunately.

The door switched are integrated into the door latch mechanism and are a common problem... you can replace the micro switch if yo are handy etc but generally speaking a replacement latch is required if the issue persists

Knackered alarm sirens normally start life as 4 beeps from the rear of the car on starting the engine...

I have done the battery replace job here (contains links to other guides)
