Aircon Power drain?

Hi,
simple question does anybody know in terms of BHP what a drain the aircon is on an S3? Also what does it do for fuel economy? If anybody knows I'd like to know but don't go killing yourself working it out, the question struck me and thought it would be nice to know the answer

I dont know but I run mine all the time and still get 300-330 miles from a tank of optimax so it can`t be that much.

Depends how hard it's working compared to how fast your driving, i.e. height of summer in a traffic jam then it will seriously effect economy, probably buy as much as 10mpg, but in normal weather/normal driving conditions then only about 2-3mpg. The cc is designed to be on all the time and turning it off for long periods is actually bad for the system.
