    starting question

    hi guys,

i gave my car a good wash this afternoon and then went to meet with family for the afternoon. after cleaning my car i drove probably 15 miles and then it was stood for a few hours. wen i came to start it after that time it was turning over for about 10-15 seconds before the engine actually started... it all sounded fine but can anyone understand y it took so long to start? a bit of damp got in the engine perhaps? i'm only a bit concerned because normally when i turn the key the engine starts almost straight away.

The starter motor is for a fact on its way out but this sounded fine at the time...

What do i check ?? Thanks in advance

    Regards
    Dave

    Re: starting question

if starter was going, it wouldn't turn over, or very slowly.

either fuel or spark, dodgy coil packs or water on coil pack converter?

wouldn't be looking at starter unless turn over slow.

Mine too, but it's not all that noticeable - I only noticed after the thread a while back on the subject.

Yep, my 2.8Q really hates it when I run it below a gallon, also seems to be addicted to Optimax as if I put anything else in it gets a bit lumpy on tick over from cold, it has done 145k miles though.
