What are your thoughts on White/Silver Leather...

I really like it - a bit porn star I know... but I am a bit of a porn star really :p

Most of my mates say no its awful, but I really like the look of the S3 interiour with the white bits in the door cards etc.

I REALLY wanted black recaros with the silver alcantra inserts, but as pointed out by someone on the forums - this can be a biyatch to keep clean.

What do you think then of just the plain white leather interiours?
 
I have this combination in mine and trust me it looks the mutts nuts. Not at all difficult to keep clean and it really lifts the whole interior of the car making it brighter. The alcantara centres also help prevent you sliding around when cornering.

Even if you find the right car with the alcantara you can always get the seats retrimmed in it with the colour of your choice.
 
Was very dubious of it at first.
I've got a black S3 with all "silver" nappa leather recars. ("Silver" is fancy audi speak for "white" - it looks sort of cream in reality).
I actually asked the dealer if he would swap them for the cloth-based seats in my old A3 I was trading in, and he looked at me like I had a screw loose.
But they grow on you, and look a bit special with the contrast of the black paint, not hard to keep, and don't look so pimpish as they might first strike you. Does make the inside look a lot brighter too.
Isn't the Nogaro blue/silver recaro combination supposed to be the classic?
 
I've got silver leather in mine and I too agree that it looks great and really makes the interior of the car.

My last S3 was all black leather and I really like the silver leather more.

Saying that I think that silver leather only really goes with certain colours on the S3, Dolphin Grey, Ming Blue and Black to name a few....

I have silver leather in my merlin purple S3 and think it really suits the colour and I agree with others about it brightening up the car.

I found the black leather seats in most of the S3's I looked at seemed to show the creases and cracks up more, making them look older than they were?

Each to their own though, I would definatley consider getting another S3/S4 with a dark interior if i found the right one.

nogaro blue and silver leather here.

Looks awesome, and i really wasnt expecting it to at all.

best bit of all, is that the leather doesnt remove skin from your legs and back on sunny days.
 
not my sort of thing full leather ,but does look ok,spent months looking for a car with blue alcantara thought there is to many with leather,but like i say it looks nice

Not entirely sure I like the white .. but who am I to talk I've got yellow :p
 
I can see that the mental leap to turn the car on for a couple of minutes before you get in it is obviously a big one. What was I thinking!
 
I personally love black leather/clue alc, black leather/yellow alc and black leather/white alc combos... Not keen on all leather seats...too slidey!

I have the silver leather. I loved it before I bought the car, but now I wish I had the black leather/silver alcantara seats. Don't get me wrong, I still like the silver leather and I think the combo with the bark body colour is great, but as Rich says, all leather is bit too slidey.
 
Took ages to find the silver/cream leather for my black S3, but it was def worth it as black paint with black leather looked too oppressive and dark imo. Also, as mentioned, when the black leather starts to age you get almost white looking cracks, which makes it look pretty bad and prematurely aged. Goes well with most dark colours imho.
 
Like I said and most agree here... is I would like the alcantara inserts... in white... I think the contrasting black and white interious looks absolutely gorgeous. Failing that my second choice would have to be all silver leather. But I have enough fun sliding around in my A4 in leather - the alcantara is the way forward.

Anyone selling a mingblue w/ satnav, blackleather /silver alcantara facelift 225 under 60k w/ chrome mirrors?

not such a mental leap, just a waste of time. Plus saying to your passengers "do you mind standing outside for a minute, my car's at gas mark 7" is well.... and when the missus uses it she... well..

anyway, gay argument, was just trying to state a perceived benefit to myself.

By that rationale you wouldn't have leather in the first place, cold in the winter, hot in the summer regardless of colour.

I must say the charcoal grey leather/alcantara in the TDi is the business, not too keen on the black/beige (sorry silver) inserts above.
 
I have them in mine as per the first set of photos, they look nice but are a pain to keep clean, especially when the previous owner had kids!
 
Each to their own as they say, i went for the Silver Silk Nappa in both the S3's I'd been fortunate enough to have. Both cars were blue and the tone of the interior really set the S3 off a treat. Would never go black for fear of seeing the cracking and was sorely tempted with the alcantara option but decided against as possibly harder to clean. You do slide every now and again and the winters can be a bit chilly, but thats why I went for the heated seats option. Also for cleaning it has been a doddle with Meguairs every other month, the seats still look good, bit frayed round the edges due to the in and out of a seat but otherwise outstanding.

The only leather colour that I have to say is a bit much if not hideous is the red. Seen a silver S3 with it and I nearly crashed my car cause I couldn't believe someone could choose that and live with it...again just personal preference I guess.
 
Know idea what this "cracking" is all about, my 2.8Q has done 140k miles and the only damage to the leather is on the drivers seat side bolster (where you get in & out) and that's just worn not cracked, a quick wipe with leather conditioner and it pretty much disappears.

Can't believe people would choose the interior colour of their car based on something that might happen 100k miles down the road, and would then choose beige alcantara which could be ruined with one overly hot McD's coffee.
 
I don't know if anyone else on here does a lot of miles in car with light coloured alcantra seats but they are a lot harder to look after than leather.

granted I did 30,000 miles in a year and if you have the nerve and some time you can make even the yellow in my car look like new again but Alcantara is not as hard wearing as leather if both are looked after the same.
 
for cracking, I mean just where the the leather has dried up and split at the edges due to use. My mum had a BMW with black leather and after a couple of years the leather had worn down and dried and started to 'crack' so you could see whitish lines along the seat.

Yeah the bolster's is where most of the damage occurs, not even Meguairs can get it out though.

What leather conditioner do you use on yours Andy ? You can just see fine cracks starting to appear in mine. Only on the drivers bolster.

I use Autoglym, I tried Meguiars but didn't like the smell. the autoglym conditioner smells really leathery and seems to do a good job without making the leather really shiny
 
Quite right Andy... my A4 - now a 98/R with 96k - not a sign of any serious damage - little wear on the bolster as expected - but that is it. Otherwise pretty much looks like new - must be all the ladies getting moist on the seats when they get in ;o)
 
I have to confess to sitting in the drivers seat with a screwdriver in the back pocket which punctured the seat - Doh! Easily done, but luckily it's only a tiny hole & not in an area that gets worn so seems to be OK.
