Audi Concert CD Player (buttons dont light up)

Hello, i am after a bit of help and advice please

I have a 2003 S3 8L and it has an Audi Concert CD Player fitted (not the original unit, did have Sony unit in previous)

The radio works fine, cd changer is all good and the display is fine

The problem is the buttons dont light up when the headlights are on!

Plus, on the centre display that shows outside temp, mpg etc it should show on the top part either radio station or cd track number etc but NOTHING!

I asked in Halfords, they just said the blub has gone!! I have looked on the internet and not had much joy

The unit number is: 8P0035186 Grundig machine

Any help/advice with this would be great

I'm guessing it's something to do with the fact that the HU is for an 8P chassis and you have an 8L.
The DIS function is handled via the CANBUS so not sure how compatible this is between the 2 models. It maybe something that can be programmed via VCDS but probably easier to sell it on and buy the correct model HU for your car

Canbus is the issue, apparently you can open up the HU and modify it so the illumination is on all the time. the concert 2s look really nice in there, OEM always looks better.
