A previous post of mine explained that I had a problem, the problem being, I couldnt get it in to 1st gear... Having a few people look over and not finding any external problems everyone's guess was the syncro.

The place I work for has a chain of fast fit garages in west yorkshire and if anyone ever comes in with gearbox problems apparentley they get done at Top Gear Specialists in manual reconditioned gearboxes and clutches in cleckeaton.

Remember i'm on a bit of a budget due to circumstances, I explaind on the phone whats what and the gent on the other end (ian) came back with a quote of £240 including throwing the clutch in that I bought off ebay. The clutch btw was used BUT the lad said it had only done 1000 miles (i thought hmmm) velado too. I ended up getting it for £70 when I got it on the friction surface the velado print was still on there! 1000 miles my **** lol either that or a 1000 miles of super duper silky smooth gear changes.

Anyway today at half 8 I was there dropping my baby off, I have never been without her, i felt **** leaving her haha :/ . She might be there overnight too which is....well..you know.

To be honest tho cant wait to get her back with 1st intact, Had a dirty diesel 8p sportback revving away at the lights the other night on a hill.....he flew....i looked a **** lol.

Thats it, my post out of the blue lol

whats the outcome mate??

All done and sorted, I had flattened the teeth or something (not a clue about gearboxes) also had dual mass flywheel dumped and replaced with a solid one and new ish clutch and thrust bearing.

I have to say I did have a few problems with the company but they got it done in the end (4 days later and 2x the box off :/).

Done about 4000 miles and all is well, solid flywheel makes such a difference in a good way.

Thats good done in the end, does it idle any different with solid flywheel?.

No it idles just the same, its just not as refined and feels more planted when you change gear. With the dual mass, gear changes didn't feel instant but with the solid one its straight in, kind of hard to explain, sure someone else can explain better than me lol

Funny you say that, It wasn't BUT im sure it's the same owner (just round the corner) I had similar problems like the new clutch they said "fitted and was like a charm" until I got to the asda and opened the boot to find the new clutch sat there :/ best phone call of my life that....(me) hiya I have a slight slip on the clutch (them)oh yeah (me) yeah, you did use that clutch didn't you (them) yes mate all went in fine (me) really? well why the f**k is the clutch staring back at me from my boot??? (them) oh, erm......have they not done it? erm......bring it up and leave it with us (me) not a chance, ill stay with it! not having it for another 4 days! .........................and so on lol.

I actually watched that on watchdog with vivid similar memories.
