Hi

I am wanting to put a bigger turbo on my S3. It has a k04 on now but i want to know if i can put a bigger turbo on without changing the manifold and downpipe. i want one that will just replace that without any messing but bigger if poss?

Any ideas

cheers tom

Even if you could its not as simple as that... there are eliminator kits available but they are pants really and you still have to do all the other mods including mapping...

Your bet bet is a K04 hybrid... look for build threads from members Welly, Westy, Prawn (an A3 track car but has a K04 conversion) and Dane in the 8L section (use advanced search and search on the user names to fine the build threads...

It isn't a case of just swapping the turbo though... any bigger turbo will need larger injectors and custom mapping to dial everything in and if you want to make actual power then a FMIC, 3" down pipe, 80mm TIP and ideally rods to name a few bits...

Cheers pal thank for info

i think i might do that is it best to get a new achuator at the same time? i have seen them on ebay £60.

There is a problem with my car at the min and people think its turbo which i don't mind changing to get it hybridid.

Don't bother with an aftermarket actuator especially if you are thinking it will fix a problem you are not even sure you have... what makes you think its the turbo? have you scanned for fault codes or had it checked out by a specialist at all?... "people think its the turbo" is not really a diagnosis in fairness... if its not making boost for example its not always the turbo thats the problem...

Scan for fault codes (follow the link in my sig for info on this) and post the results...

Hybrid turbo route can net anywhere from 300 to 350hp depending on the level of supporting mods you go for... just bolting a hybrid on won't do anything but potentially blow up you engine... and fitting it without supporting mods is the only way to reach its potential
