please hlep? can anyone tell me how to set the timing on the cam belt what marks etc

hi ive bought an a3 quattro 1.8 20v t ary engine as a non runner! the cambelt has lost its tension and i suspect that the belt has jumped round on the pullys etc can anyone tell me where to look for timing marks etc to reset it so i can check compression to c if there are any bent valves

TDC can be determined the old fashioned way with a long (not sharp pointed) implement done the plug hole of cyl 1.. there is also a bung on the gearbox that can be removed to see a timing mark on the flywheel

Cam sprocket has a notch in it that can be aligned with a notch on the cam cover... you need to remove the plastic cam belt cover to see this...
