Tyre size for 18 wheels

Hello

I bought 18x8 wheels for my S3 and searching for new tyres now. Got very good offer to 235/40 R18 tyres, does it fit for S3 or 225/40 is the only way to go? Wheels ET is 48 and will use 20mm and 25mm PCD adapters probably.

Have original springs at the moment but possibly going lower some day.

235/40 is perfect for 8J alloys. 225/40 would work too. I've got a small stretch using 225/40 on my 8.5J and a big stretch using 225/40 on the 9.5J rears, but 235/40 or 225/40 would both be perfectly fine.

I'd probably go for 15mm and 25mm adapters personally, but 20 and 25 shouldn't see any problems.

OEM optional 18" S3 rims are 8" wide and they use 225/40 tyres.

Yea, i know original is 225/40 but those 235/40 have such a good price. So probably i should still prefer 225/40?
