I'm currently experiencing problems with steering/braking, which my garage tells me is mainly due to the differential bearing in my gearbox on it's way out. The symptoms are very similar to warped brake discs, i.e. wobbling when braking, and also slight wheel wobble at high speed.
When jacking up the front of the car, and rotating the nearside front wheel by hand, there is a very audible grinding/crunching noise, which seems rather odd.
So, my question is, is there an affordable solution to replacing this bearing without a specialist charging a fortune for a full gearbox stripdown and rebuild?
Any advice much appreciated.
Cheers
