over the past couple of days my air con has smelt basically like bad breath mixed with poo... its also makin a noise but only from the inside of the car which sounds like an old bike chain that hasnt been oiled oh and when set on low the air it blows in is the same temp as outside air which tonight was about 19C... can any1 help? i don't want to ring up the rip off bloke who serviced it last time because he told me i needed a new condenser, which i didnt... PLEASE HELP! its just been serviced 2 weeks back by audi to and they changed some belts for it or something. thanks in advance

Regards
Dave

There's your main problem, Audi know sweet FA about aircon, take it to an aircon specialist.
Depending on the age of the car (and use or disuse of the aircon) various elements start to fail at about 5 years.
Compressor, dryer, condenser & heat exchanger will either fail or develop a leak. Trust me I had every element replaced over a 2 year period after Audi couldn't even find the first problem and just kept regassing it.
It's expensive work as it's time consuming and the parts aren't cheap, but a good specialist is far cheaper and can source the original parts before Audi have stamped 4 rings on it and doubled the price (Audi don't make any of the components in the aircon system).
The CC system is designed to be run all year round (don't switch it off during winter as certain parts dry out and can crack and you'll get a build up of bacteria which is most likely the bad smell you're getting)

ok mate cheers. its just had a remap at amd and i was wondering if they cuda knocked anything and caused it to fail wen they entered the ECU as the noise is coming from that area...? the smell can't be any dangerous gas leaks or anthing can they? its either gotta be audi mucking something during the service or Amd wen they remapped it! i'm not paying out anything else on repairs! its getting rediculous now... £1800 in 3 months.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yes better to concentrate on the essentials like a remap rather than keeping the car roadworthy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif
