Standard A3 quattro intercooler upgrade...but not front mount?

Afternoon
Right, ive been thinking about upgrading the intercooler on the 99' quattro however i have a huge issue with front mount intercoolers. I know theres a few of you on here running them but there just not for me, to be honest, they look horrendous lol (no offence to anyone using one).
I was wondering what the alternative would be that would be an upgrade from the original without having to go front mounted...S3?
Any input would be awesome

An SMIC won't be nearly as effective as an FMIC. Why not just get an FMIC and spray it black if the appearance bothers you that much? Will be virtually invisible.
