Well to start with I had another build thread her on ASN but it was getting very confusing, so I decided to start fresh again.

The story starts like this I had a VW Golf MK3 VR6 97 plate of which with Ben @ Parsonsperformance we did an engine change to a 1.8t BAM 42k on Emerald K6 standalone management running good power. To cut a long story short I retired her! As I am a believer of recycling, alot of engine parts will be used on the beauty below and any parts that I can sell a proportional amount of money will also be used on this build.

So I spent a few weeks looking around for an S3 and viewed quite alot, I was searching for one with good mods to save on additional spend. And I found this girl aka "Alice";

Just be wishing about some new rims, in the future has anyone seen these on a s3?

Compomotive MVS 1880 18 x 8j ET0-53 they look like a good alternative to Team Dynamic 12.1

Great thread matey. Love it when people actually go and buy/do stuff instead of talking about it....(like me)

If you do get new wheels give me a shout for your old ones.

Thanks for your comment. Its been a slow process getting parts of the puzzle in place but when its go time its go time lol.

Would be wheels only if you are still interested, PM me?

I've always been a fan of Compomotives. They look good. Don't you want something a bit wider though? :)

You have a good point there, I was thinking 9j rears and 8.5j fronts? Then I can sell the spacers.

What are you running Sam?

You could even go to 9.5" rear. Currently I have 18x8.5's but I've just picked up some black pro race 1.2 17x9s and going to run 245 tyres. I think it'll be tight on the front but the rear will be fine.

Nice, are you running spacers? Not sure on 9.5" rears and 9" fronts tbh would have to see how it sits. Its all good thinking.

The rear could probably take a 10". There's acres of room. There's a few people on here running 9.5" all round - Rota Grids. Tyres are the important part.

I was going to buy that s3! but it was 260 miles from me! The lad who had it was a mercedes mechanic iirc?

Nice car , good build I was going to keep it as was if I bought it so better you got it!

Sean

Thats some food for thought. Like on the BMW's how does effect how the vehicles track have such big *** 10s on the rears and say 9s on the front? What do you plan to run in the end and the final ET?

Jake was the lads name, correct fella he was a Mercedes Mechanic, cannot fault his attention to detail.

Lucky I did get her in the end Sean. I was looking at the car more from what can I add to it, and most importantly how to improve it to my liking. More boost = more fuel = loads of smiles per gallon.

Progress is being made, turbo should be back on Wednesday next week and then the engine build is complete. Will update with Pictures then.

Good work there fella :hi:
How did the mk 3 die ? What spec was it ?

I slide on compact mud, hit a tree, bent the A piller, RIP. I'll dig out the full spec later, its quite a bit and will post up if you are interested?

Most of the work besides mapping was completed by myself and Ben @ Parsonsperformance. Big thanks to Ben and the S3 should be an interesting project. Most the engine parts will be re-used on S3 Alice. I couldn't salvage much from the car, RIP!

Just an update, fitted the mk4 top mounts from PSI tuning which gave her an additional 10mm of lows on the front and also fitted the lupo 6n top caps but had to use 2mm washers between the top mount nut and the top cap to space out the top cap which without would rub on the strut body work.

When fitting the top mounts I noticed my rear bushes on my wishbones had split, so I ordered replacements from a link tuffty had kindly supplied on eBay, they are Meyle HD and are solid, at the same time I thought well I might as well replace the fronts so I ordered some Powerflex ones (a bit of an overkill tbh) and to go one stage further I got some bushes for the OEM arm on the rears from s3dave. Hopefully this will tighten up the suspension and stop this wallowing.

More importantly, my turbo is back from Dan @ Beach Buggy Turbos

All starting to get very exciting, fresh turbo and rebuilt forged bottom end, no big port unfortunately as I cannot find one in my budget.

Just got these on eBay not bad, happy with that. Eurocarparts are useless when I asked them to confirm and check the right part number they still get it wrong, they sent me the early bushes which are smaller in diameter.

Front wishbone bushes won on the bay

Picture of the front rears, cheers tuffty for the link!! Cheers s3dave for the rear arm bushes.

Hopefully the mods above will improve the handling. Need to swap the rear arms round and put the adjustable to the bottom, then four wheel alignment.

Today in the right, the plan is to fit the liquid display, LCR splitter, badger 5 v2 TIP. What a pleasant day lol

Another pic of the turbo.

nice work mate, been reading up on this since u text we with the updates, looks like everything is going very well!

Hey fella, going well everything is going as planned sort of lol. Hows it going your end?

Just cracking on with the small jobs on the s3 at the moment.

Cheers Tuffty for the liquid display and your support.

Got this fitted last weekend. Had a few teething issues but it works like a dream and keeps the OBD2 port free. Nice.

This arrived yesterday, two month wait but worth it, got stung on import tax cheers HMRC.

2013-03-29%252010.39.19.jpg

Ordered a 19mm Oil Catch Can kit of eBay today, so hopefully all going well, this should be fitted next week.

LCR spiltter will be fitted and the B5 v1 will be replaced with the v2 next week.

Then its rebuilt forged engine and Dan's hybrid "get some" + turbo to get fitted with Ben @ Parsonsperformance next. Hopefully by the end of the month.

After that nothing Job done and studying again lol.

A little more progress today.

LCR splitter is on. I got to say it does make the S3 look better and more aggressive.

2013-04-01%252018.55.48.jpg

Tomorrow is Badger 5 v2. Pics to follow.

I could not be ***** with fitting the badger 5 last week so this will have to wait for a week or so, the v1 does the job for now.

On another note engine rebuild has started which is great.

Pics are from Ben aka skillz. I'll leave the rebuild to the professionals. Not my cup of tea.

Pistons are back in

Its all coming together, once the engine is back together etc....thats for me when the fun starts......

Sump cleaned

Oil pump and windage tray installed.

Thanks Ben for explaining what a windage tray does!!!

Legal pressed plates on order from eBay should be here soon. I was really uncertain they would suit an S3 but seen a few pics and thought I would give it a go.

Most of the parts have gone from the VW so, thats the last of the investment, not sure you can call modifying cars an investment lol.

Don't forget the heatshielding dude... that orange hose from the turbo to the charge pipe will melt very quickly....

<tuffty/>

Hey, tuffty extremely good point, heat management is key. Need to also put on the BAM throttle body, air conditioning pump on the front, aux belt and turbo support bracket.
