Power loss

Just been out in my 2002 a3 tdi and went down the bypass an gave it abit of stick, I let revs go all the way and it him the limiter, the car felt like it jolted and felt like the engine had died as I didn't have any power there, the revs were building very slowly and didn't feel like the turbo was kicking in. Once I had stopped for 5 mins with the engine off and it was fine when I set off again. Gt me quite puzzled.

any ideas anyone?

Sounds like *soft limp mode* something upset it and it went into safely mode into you turned it off and back on again, it might have recorded a fault code.
