Bonnet catch problems / quick fix help?

Was involved in a accident a while ago and has left my bonnet bent up one side, and the bonnet catch broken.
today I got pulled over for a routine check and was given a vehicle defect order to get the catch sorted out, personally I think the officer was being a bit anal about the subject because it can't come up when driving along and I Havnt had the slightest hint of it moving when I've been driving but law is law.

i need the car to drive to work for the week and need a quick fix which is legal to keep the bonnet down, I don't want to be caught out on the way to work and get points on my licence.

so does anyone know a way to hold the bonnet down legally?

Not really much else you can do with out replacing the catch tbh unless you could tie it down which wont be easy or bond it down or something but then have fun trying to get it open to fit the new catch. Either way you will need to have a new catch fitted to clear the police order right?

Yeah I do need a new catch to comply with the police order, have to take a receipt down. But I need to drive to work so it has to be held shut tight I guess, or is it illegal if the bonnet cannot open?

Don't think it is illegal but it wont pass an mot there is differences between legalities and mot standards. You say one catch is broken? so the other one should be holding it pretty tight I would imagine. Best bet is just to get to a garage or order a catch asap.
