s3 8l revs slow to drop on gearchange

Hi all.
i have a 1999 s3 8l and the revs seem slow to drop, is this normal? i have also noticed its got worse on fuel, getting about 22 mpg.
temp gets to 90 and stays there,

any ideas?

Not to sure on all your questions but the temp should stay at 90 when the card warmed up so that sounds normal anyway.

Need a new clutch switch by the sounds of it, common problem on our cars, the switch is located down by the clutch pedal. The temp is fine.

Agreed. This thread may help as it can be a bit of a pain in the *** (took me a few goes).

Dual mass flywheel is heavy and revs don't drop fast... clutch switch can be tested in VCDS and will throw a fault code if faulty anyway so check that before replacing...

cheers all. just tryed in neutral and seems about the same. must assume its the dual mass flywheel as mentioned.
