Please Help - Car has a cough !

Hi All

I have noticed recently that my car seems to cough!! Its like the aircon kicks in but it isnt switched on... Any ideas? Also my aircon stinks and I have heard that there is a spray I can use to combat this, has anyone else?

You have an intermittant misfire by the sounds of things. This can be caused by lots of different things ranging from bad plugs to sensor issues. A quick scan on VAG com would be the easiest way to determine a possible prob.

As for the smelly aircon I would first change the pollen filter.
Its located in the engine bay under the plastic cover where the wipers are on the passenger side. The cover is hinged on that side so you don't have to remove the whole thing.

Thanks HTC, i was thinking of changing the plugs and air filter to see how things go, I'll keep you posted. As for the aircon I have been told Audi do a 'bomb' the does the trick = ever heard of this ?
