The famous boot rust! Part number check, please.

My A3 (facelift) has the typical rust on the bootlid trim above the number plate.

I was planning on buying this part and either getting it sprayed or doing a rattle can job on it myself.

I used the online ETKA and think the part number is 8D9 827 576 F or with G RU on the end for ready primed.

Also once painted and ready to replace, what needs to be done to stop it happening in the future?

All right no need to get technical. The aluminium is corroding under the paint causing the paint to bubble. Happy?

Did you treat the metal before repainting or take any preventative measures?
