Whirring noise before boost kicks in ?

Hi there,

I have a 52 plate S3, with about 90k miles on it. I've had all the usual things go wrong with it and it is fine and drives well.

I've recently noticed a kind of whirling noise as I start to accelerate below about 3000rpm and then it tends to go away as I feel the turbo pushing in.

Any ideas on what that may be ?

Roy, I'd get the turbo checked out as soon as possible. I've had that and now the car is off the road having a turbo change/rebuild... Hopefully not that, but best to eliminate it.
